Jim joined FVLD immediately following his graduation from Northwestern Law School in 1992, and is now the Firm’s Managing Partner. In Jim’s first year at FVLD, he took the lead in settling the longest running case at the firm. His passion and prime objective is to “help our clients capitalize on their opportunities and weather their storms.” Jim thrives on partnering with clients and being a part of their success.
Jim has taken a lead role in the Firm’s work on cutting-edge issues such as development of equity-based incentive compensation programs for executives of corporate employers, as well as the planning and negotiation of mergers, acquisitions, joint venture and “partnering” relationships, commercial real estate and leasing transactions, software development and licensing agreements and other infrastructure and financing initiatives. He has also represented companies, shareholders and partners in the resolution of intra enterprise management disputes and restructurings, resolving most of them without litigation. In addition, Jim has been particularly active in the Firm’s representation as company counsel for various entrepreneurial, owner-managed clients, as well as large, established enterprises.
