Rochelle grew up in the Chicago area. She received her undergraduate degree in three years from the University of Illinois, cum laude, with distinction in English, in 1976. Rochelle received her law degree from Northwestern University in 1979. She was very active in the Northwestern Legal Clinic where she handled a variety of matters, including juvenile, divorce and discrimination. After graduating from law school, Rochelle spent approximately 15 years at a large Chicago law firm where she was a partner and the head of the real estate litigation practice group. She was included in the 14th Edition of Who's Who of American Women for 1985-1986. Rochelle joined the firm in late 1994 as of counsel and became a member of the Firm on January 1, 1997. Rochelle has experience in a variety of areas of the law. Rochelle's primary area of expertise is in commercial real estate. She has represented both lenders and borrowers with respect to real estate financing and loan defaults, business entities with respect to leasing and financing and individuals and business entities with respect to general corporate matters and a variety of contract disputes. Rochelle has also successfully represented numerous institutional lenders in complex foreclosure proceedings, the negotiation of deeds in lieu of foreclosure and workouts in all types of commercial developments, including office, industrial and apartment buildings, hotels, motels and shopping centers. Rochelle has extensive experience representing employers in connection with employment and personnel matters. This includes the preparation of employment agreements and employee handbooks and policies including anti-harassment and family and medical leave policies, the investigation of employment matters including employee thefts, alleged harassment, and other employment matters, and day-to-day counseling about employment issues such as discipline and hiring and firing. Rochelle has represented clients in both federal and state courts and has dealt with a wide variety of issues including bankruptcy, receiverships and lender liability claims. Admitted to practice in the State of Illinois and the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Rochelle is also a member of the Trial Bar of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. Rochelle has served on the boards of and participated as a volunteer in various charitable organizations and was honored in 1996 by the Jewish National Fund. Rochelle is married and has three sons. So that she can successfully accommodate her professional and personal life, Rochelle maintains a flexible work schedule and frequently works from her home office. Rochelle enjoys watching soccer, baseball and basketball games, particularly when her sons are playing. In addition to her family, her interests are literature and music. |
