James grew up in the Washington, D.C. area and joined FVLD after practicing with a small Chicago law firm where he gained experience in securities and commercial litigation. In particular, James has worked on federal and state securities cases, contract disputes, and defamation claims. James has also gained experience preparing and filing SEC public filings for corporate clients and has negotiated and drafted a settlement agreement in a commercial dispute.

James attended Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. where he received a B.S. in Business Management in 2001. While at Georgetown, he played midfield for the nationally ranked Men's Lacrosse team. James received his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center in 2006. While at law school, he gained valuable experience working as a research assistant for his Legal Research and Writing professor and later working as a law clerk for a solo practitioner specializing in labor and employment law. More importantly, however, James also met his wife at law school and she also practices in the Chicago area.

James enjoys playing golf, basketball and rooting for the Washington Redskins and Georgetown Hoyas basketball team in his spare time.
